It looks ahead. The 2026 edition projects contribution in the 2026–27 regular season. Rookies can appear before their first NBA game; placement is a forecast.
Availability matters. A published placement is not a ranking of peak talent when everyone is healthy. Injury reporting provides context, not proof of why every voter chose a rank.
NR stays NR. An absent player has no exact rank in that edition. Returns and new entries do not get a made-up jump from #101. ESPN also changed its panel methodology between editions.
